Daybook Online Journal: Let the Fun Begin

Daybook Online Journal: Let the Fun Begin

Welcome to my weekly Sunday Tuesday post, Daybook Online Journal. This is a post where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to…eating and cleaning and learning…These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life; and I want to remember them. If you blog, please link up below with your Daybook Online Journal post. If you don’t have a blog, no worries, just leave your “post” in the comments. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Thanking God for…
I am thanking God for the wisdom, counsel and discernment of Chris. I am thanking God for this busy life that pulls me in 8 different directions for 8 different people and yet each night almost all of us are still able to gather in the living room for family rosary.

Praying…
I am praying so very hard for my children and our family as a whole. Sunday after Communion I poured my heart to the Lord and I was encouraged that although things may seem confusing and hard, we are a family striving to live in the state of grace…He loves us…He loves my children more than I do…He sees my heart and knows my fears…

Pondering…

Jesus I trust in You

Listening to…
Right now the older children are working on school, the younger kids are out back playing and I’m listening to Compass by Shawn Macdonald.

Bible Journaling…
I have not spent time Bible journaling the past week. Life is moving very fast right now with end of school, soccer tournaments and games, piano recital, Chris traveling, Alpaca shearing, gardening, chickens, cows, mowing…

Around the House…
My grandparents recently moved into a long care facility and my uncles graciously packed up bags and bags of canned food from their house to give to us. We now need to sort through them all and decide what we will use and then donate the rest to Catholic Charities. We are cleaning and prepping the farm for shearing this week. It used to be a much bigger deal than it is now. We used to have a large party…100+ people and tents…now it is a handful of friends, but the preparation of the animals and barns remains the same. And then the usual Spring activities that take me away from the inside of the house…gardening and mowing…yet the inside continues with dishes and laundry. Life is full and good.

In the Kitchen…
We seem to be running here and there and eating basically the same thing over and over. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not?

Our Domestic Church…
Finishing up preparing Maximilian for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. I would put that child up against most other children or adults to test his readiness for the sacraments. His memorization is incredible and his comprehension is edifying in his examples to explain what he is learning.

I am a strong proponent for early Confirmation for a couple of reasons. First, the definition of a sacrament–a sacrament is an outward sign instituted by Christ to give grace–my children, our children, need ALL avenues of grace open and available to them now…not later. Second, and along the same lines, the definition of Confirmation–the sacrament through which the Holy Ghost comes to us in a special way to enable us to profess our faith as strong and perfect Christians and soldiers of Jesus Christ–my children are asked about their faith now…not when they become teens. My children are asked on the soccer fields NOW what their scapular is, why they can’t miss Mass on Sundays or Holy Days. My children are told now Catholic are not Christians. They need that outpouring of grace to profess their Catholic faith NOW and to be an active part of the Church Militant as soldiers on the front lines…the grocery store, the soccer fields, the family reunion…

Daybook Online Journal: What Animal Does April Go Out Like?

A lion…I’m going to have to say a big ‘ol mean lion. And don’t even tell me that’s a March thing.

Welcome to my weekly Sunday post, Daybook Online Journal.

Thanking God for…
I am thanking God for the wisdom and discernment He has graced Chris with. And that Chris is more of a rational verse emotional (ahem…) creature and listens in those quiet moments. I am thankful for the grace to realize Chris’ listening looks different than mine. Without that grace, I might think he doesn’t listen.

Praying…
I told my spiritual father the other day I couldn’t chase after my children like St. Monica chased St. Augustine; I have too many little ones still around. “Ah, but you can chase them with your prayers.” Well said father, well said.

Pondering…
I am pondering more of our conversation during spiritual direction. We spoke of making Christ the King of our home. And that raising children in a home where Christ is the King gives them a good, solid foundation…but they also have free will…and they also have a loving and merciful Father.

Bible Journaling…
I’ve had some lovely downtime this weekend. I’ve used that time to spend with God reading His Word and Bible journaling on “Trust.” I think many word studies could be considered inexhaustible…trust probably leading the pack.  Here’s a page I worked on the other night about God’s love being poured into our hearts.  Isn’t that a beautiful thought?  (I traced that pitcher, used stamps and my own handwriting, stickers and then watercolors.)

Bible Journaling

Around the House…
Chris’ schedule is really messing me up…here, not here, here and then gone…This really isn’t his fault, my homemaking skills and schedules should be good enough to withstand crazy life schedules and last minutes changes. Must work on that.

In the Kitchen…
See above. Except for, have I mentioned a time or ten that being off Trim Healthy Mama has not been a good thing for me? Oh I have? Then carry on; I would hate to repeat myself when it comes to my sleep changes, brain fog, and roller coaster like blood sugar.

Our Domestic Church…
I’m posting later on this week about our homeschooling which is an obvious part of our Domestic Church. We read about Lives of The Saints: For Everyday of the Year and do our memory work first thing every morning. Our memory work includes scripture, prayers and catechism questions. Maybe I’ll do a post about our memory work specifically.

Our chickens are really laying…like really.  We had so many eggs this weekend I made six breakfast casseroles to freeze so I could make room in my refrigerator.

Daybook Online Journal: Alive and Well

Yes it’s true, alive and well. I sometimes wonder if the quieter the blog the more alive and well? But I dare not ponder that for too long because writing is my processor for life, so I will eventually make my way back, ready to process the life that sometimes takes me/keeps me from blogging and at the very same time forces me to blog.

Thanking God for…
I am thanking God for time with Chris and the kids. Each night when we gather for family rosary, I am acutely aware that these nights are precious and short. Sooner rather than later there won’t be nine of us gathered on couches and chairs for evening prayer. Some nights even now Bernadette may be working and I have to leave early to pick her up and then there are only seven souls gathered in the living room. And so I thank God for time–the present and the past and pray for the future.

Praying…
Mentally on my knees y’all. When my children were younger and I just wanted a good night sleep, people to get their own drink of water and wipe their own bottoms…so much easier than now. The worries are bigger and more life changing. The influences are scarier and not as easy to filter out.

Pondering…
I am pondering black and white. I like black and white–gray is confusing and slippery.

Bible Journaling…
Journaling Bible

So after a couple of days of not spending time Bible journaling, I missed it. This is a very simple example. I smeared some Liquitex Professional Heavy Body Acrylic Paint, Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue, but you could also just use a yellow highlighter or crayon. I glued a white gift tag down (honestly–because I messed up underneath it), and printed the verse I was pondering. I added a small strip of Washi tape in a gold arrow design and stamped a set of baby feet/foot print at the top of the page. See, Just Be Simple.

Around the House…
I’m not sure why, but the house is pretty messy…Oh maybe because we were at a soccer tourney all weekend, there are nine of us–seven of them being children, Chris was out of town last week…excuses?

In the Kitchen…
If I said “Don’t know, don’t care” would you judge me?

Bible Journaling…
This has been an off week and I have not journaled…and I can tell. I mentioned the other day in an Instagram post, there are a couple of things I need to do to take care of myself and reading my Bible–having my head, heart and hands in the Word are so very important to my well being.

Around the House…
Still trying to continually purge. It’s time to change out the Winter to Summer clothes which is a mess, but thanks be to God we have clothing. I’m sure I’ll have some bags to donate as well as throw out.

In the Kitchen…
Oh my goodness y’all I have got to work on what we spend for groceries! This week will include some inexpensive soups. The last couple of weeks I’ve been about 95% Trim Healthy Mama. This week I’ll go back 100%. I just feel so much better and thus function so much better.

I know, two days in a row on this whole Homesteading on a Small Farm topic.  I won’t write about it all day everyday, especially when it’s July and about 250° with humidity in the shade.  But for now, it’s early Spring, there are no weeds to pull and only ideals to draw up and plans to try to avoid my predictable homesteading demise come the middle of Summer.

Homesteading on a small farm

Thanking God for…
::Bernadette calling to have lunch with me on her lunch break from work
::avocados stuffed with chicken and queso
::shoe shopping with my girls
::visiting an old friend with my girls
::watching my boys and Chris move a couple of steers
::a deal made to get half a cow the end of the summer
::Chris’ excitement over running a few head of cattle here on the small farm
::talking gardening stuff with Chris
:: doing life with Chris

Praying…
I am praying for:
::my children
::my Godchildren
::mommas…this is a HARD vocation

Pondering…
There are a couple of things I’m pondering that will require their own posts. I’m also still just completely undone by Kara Tippetts book, The Hardest Peace: Expecting Grace in the Midst of Life’s Hard.

Listening to…
As close to nothing as possible in this house full of life. Almost everyone is asleep or off doing something quietly.

Around the House…
It’s Holy week and I want to make it a good one. Kendra has some great suggestions as does Catholic Culture.

In the Kitchen…
I made a large pot of beans Saturday. These went into Frito Chili Pie Saturday night and will be used for refried beans throughout the week. I am so excited to try Briana’s Bullet Proof Chai. I have been missing my hot Chai since eating more Trim Healthy Mama friendly this past week and I’m not a coffee drinker. I just need some protein powder and I’ll have everything I need.

Saving Money…
Chris worked out a deal with our neighbor so he can use some of our pasture for grazing and in return we’ll get some meat for the freezer. We also now enough eggs that we can start selling some.
